Court turns down RUSAL’s 174 mln rbl suit against Unipro

MOSCOW, Apr 17 (PRIME) -- The Moscow Arbitration Court has turned down a 174 million ruble suit of RUSAL Bratsk, a subsidiary of Russian aluminum giant UC RUSAL, against power producer Unipro over a malfunction at the Berezovskaya GRES power plant, according to the information obtained by PRIME at court on Wednesday.

In its suit, RUSAL Bratsk asked the court to cancel a capacity supply agreement signed in 2010 and make Unipro redeem the unfair benefit to the company.

RUSAL Bratsk wanted the company to return the payments the smelter made from February 1, 2016 – when the third power unit of the Berezovskaya GRES malfunctioned – until October 2016, when it was officially acknowledged that the unit’s power production stood at zero.
